Working in a business involves all the physical activities of running the business daily; ensuring the clients are attended to, closing deals, making sales, and so on.
Working on a business are those things you do that are not all that physical but are the things that must be done to ensure the business keeps moving. They involve intellectual reasoning, branding, emotional intelligence, marketing skills, psychological reasoning, sales strategies, etc.
The 20/80 rule states that 80% of your results should come from 20% of your efforts. If it’s the other way round, it will be discouraging both for you and your business. This is why you working on the business is more important. It reduces the workload. When you plan and you develop a strategy, you won’t do “try and fail”. You will know what exactly you must do which will birth results.
